How to quote, win, schedule and get paid — in a few taps.

Dokket takes a job from quote → won → scheduled → invoiced → paid, all from your phone. This guide is task-based: find what you're trying to do, follow the steps. Most of it you'll pick up just by using the app — this is here for the bits that aren't obvious.

01Getting started

  1. Add it to your home screen. When your phone offers, tap Add to Home Screen. Dokket then opens like a normal app and works without signal.
  2. Fill in your business details in Settings — company name, logo, phone, payment terms. These print on every quote and invoice, so it's worth doing once up front.
  3. Raise your first quote with the New quote button, bottom-right.
Tip: your data syncs across your devices when you're signed in. Sign in on your tablet too and the same quotes are there.

02Quoting a job

  1. Tap New quote and add the customer. If you've quoted them before, start typing their name and pick them from the list — their details fill in automatically.
  2. Describe the work, then add your line items: a description, quantity and unit price for each.
  3. Turn on VAT if you charge it, and add a deposit if you take one.
  4. Add photos straight from your camera or roll — handy for showing the state of a board or a problem area.
  5. Send it with Email quote — it goes to the customer as a branded PDF, and replies come back to you.
Optional extras: mark a line as Optional and it shows on the quote as a possible add-on, without counting toward the total. Good for "while we're here, we could also…".

Email quote vs Open in Mail

03Costs & margin (private)

Each line has a Cost £ column next to the unit price. Enter what the item actually costs you (materials, your time) and Dokket shows your profit per line, plus a total cost, profit and margin under the quote totals.

Your costs are private. They never appear on the customer's quote, the PDF, or any email — they're only ever on your screen, to help you check you're making money before you send the price.
Where to find it: the cost column is on the quote view (with the line items), not the invoice view. If you're on a job's invoice tab, switch back to the quote view to see it.

04Winning a job

When a customer says yes, open the quote and tap Start the job (the green button). This turns the quote into a job: it moves into your Jobs list, opens up scheduling, and — if the quote had a deposit — raises the deposit invoice for you automatically.

Changed your mind? A job with no invoices raised yet can be reverted to a quote from its ⋯ menu.

05Scheduling the work

  1. On a job, add one or more visits — a date, and a time if you want one.
  2. Multi-day job? Add a visit for each day. They all show on your Calendar tab.
  3. Set your working days and any time off in Settings so the calendar reflects your real availability.

06Invoicing & getting paid

On a job, switch to the invoice view. You can bill the whole job in one, or stage it:

  1. Tap Create invoice. Dokket suggests the amount left to bill — edit it if you're staging.
  2. Give it a description (Deposit, First fix, Final balance) so the customer knows what it's for.
  3. Send it with Email, or save the PDF.
  4. When it's paid, flick the Paid toggle. The job's money picture updates everywhere.
Staged invoicing: the Left to invoice figure always shows what's still unbilled, so you can raise a deposit now and the balance on completion without double-counting. You can't invoice a job that has no value yet — add the line items first.

07Chasing quotes & invoices

Dokket can nudge the ones you'd otherwise forget.

Attention tab: quotes gone quiet and invoices overdue collect here on their own, so you know what needs a nudge without hunting for it.

08Working offline

Dokket is built for cellars and new-builds with no signal. Once it's on your home screen it works offline — open a quote, edit it, add a photo. Your changes save on the device and sync the moment you're back online. No signal is not an excuse for a lost quote.

09Working as a team

If more than one of you raises quotes, you can share one account. Everyone sees the same quotes, jobs and calendar, and the numbering stays in one sequence — no two people can accidentally issue the same invoice number.

Inviting someone

  1. Go to Settings → Your team → Invite someone.
  2. Enter their email and choose what they're allowed to do.
  3. They get an email with a link. It works once and expires after seven days.
  4. They tap it, sign in or create an account, and they're in.

Invitations you've sent but nobody has accepted show under Waiting to accept, where you can cancel them.

What each role can do

Seeing who did what

Once there's more than one of you, a second row of filters appears above your quotes: Everyone, Me, and one for each person. Tap a name to see only their work. Each card shows who raised it, and who last edited it if that was someone else.

Business details on a shared account

The owner sets the business name, logo and payment details, and they go out on everyone's quotes. Members see those fields greyed out. If you change the business name, everyone on the account is told next time they open the app.

Joining with work already on your phone? Dokket asks whether to move it into the shared account or keep it to yourself. Anything you keep private stays on your device and your new colleagues never see it.

Removing someone

Settings → Your team → Remove. They lose access straight away and keep their own login. Any jobs assigned to them are unassigned rather than deleted, and their name stays on the work they did so your records still make sense.

11Common questions

My customer says the quote went to junk

New senders sometimes land in spam while email providers learn to trust the address. Ask them to check their junk folder and mark it "not spam" — after that, your emails arrive normally.

An email shows "Didn't arrive"

That means it bounced — usually a mistyped address. Open the record, check the customer's email, and resend.

I updated the app but don't see the change

Dokket caches heavily so it works offline. Fully close it (swipe it away in your app switcher) and reopen, and the latest version loads.

Someone I invited hasn't received the email

Ask them to check their junk folder first. If it's still missing, cancel the invitation under Waiting to accept and send a fresh one — check the address carefully, as an invitation only works for the exact email it was sent to.

Why can't I edit the business name?

You're a member on someone else's account. Business details are set by the account owner and go out on everyone's quotes. Ask them to change it.

Can I delete all my test data?

Yes — Delete everything in Settings clears every quote and job (your business details, price book and certs stay). It asks for your password first.
